Frozen yogurt bars have been springing up in Australia – a good deal later than the rest of the world.
Our first foray of this cool delight was in Athens in Greece – which means we are coming from a very high bench given the Greeks are the makers of the best yogurt in the world.
Earlier in the year on a trip to Hawaii we discovered Yogurtland, which has now opened up in a few places in Sydney. We went to the one in King St Newtown.
I don’t know what everyone thinks but IMO this has to be the best model of the lot that have opened in Australia.
For starters, they give you a tiny sample cup so you can try the different flavours. When you finally decide which flavours to get, you fill the cup yourself and then top with whatever choices you like.
You pay by weight and prices are reasonable. Yogurtworld is another chain on a similar model – with a store opening recently in Westfield Sydney.
Some places aren’t self serve – which eliminates all the fun. How can the server possibly know how much red velvet I want in ratio to the New York cheesecake – and how many lychee balls on top !?
The dietary info is written next to each flavour and the good news – almost all are gluten free.
